Important Information For Your Stay & Windsong Association Rules For Windsong Guests

Welcome to “Superior’s Edge” we are an upscale vacation home retreat. What we have strived to “not” to be just a mundane “vacation rental”. We want our family, friends, and guests to feel they are in a home.

We have enclosed important information for your stay. Please forward it on to all members of your group as we ask that all guests would honor our requests. This keeps our home as nice as it is and flowing smoothly in our busy season.

These realistic rules help to create an atmosphere at Windsong Cottages that sets our community above the rest & offers a pleasurable and aesthetically appealing experience for all owners and guests at our cottages. We highly value our neighbors who live in our community full-time & want them to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of their homes.

No Property Is To Be Removed From 607 Windsong – includes towels, cups, glasses, dishes, pillows, etc…

  • Absolutely no wild parties, underage drinking, illegal drug use, or loud and obnoxious behavior. Firing of firearms. Any complaints from neighbors regarding these will result in an immediate eviction.

Key Code for access:

  • You will receive a Key Code for the front door in your RESERVATION INFO email.
  • The front door key code is specific for your stay and a date/time sensitive code. Every booking gets their own code, and the code is never used again.
  • Door locks automatically once closed.

Directions:

  • North Shore Hwy 61 we are 6 minutes after you see Split Rock Light House State Park. You will see Beaver Bay township sign. Then you will see Cove Point Lodge Resort driveway. The next right hand turn after that is our street sign Windsong Drive. Take a right onto Windsong Drive. Follow to the Y in road and vere to your right and go down the small hill past the first set of Windsong cottages that are not on the lake. Then the road sharp turns to the left for the lake front cottages. As you curve around in front of these go past the first two sets of homes and ours is the 3rd set. 607 is the middle unit and the numbers are right above the front door. We have a sensor light on the porch so as you approach it should turn on. SEE IMPORTANT PARKING RULES ON NEXT PAGE.

Map Of Windsong Property:

This is the link to view our property, and I have pinned where 607 Windsong is, Pool, Trash/Recyle, Walking Path, Path to Cove Point Lodge where we like to eat and walk their shoreline. We like to rent bikes there and rent snow shoes.

Parking VERY important please follow exactly:

  • Parking is a huge contention in our community with guests parking in other owner’s parking spots. So please read carefully and follow this.
  • There are only two parking spots directly in front of the cottage for your use.
  • Overflow parking is available by the pool building if you have more than two vehicles.
  • NO trailers/snow mobiles/ATV can be parked by town homes. You will be fined $150 per incident.

NOTE How to park:

  • Pull your vehicle in between the two stair wells of our neighbor’s homes.
  • Do not block the stairs of either of our neighbor’s homes.
  • If you can’t fit two vehicles between their stairwells, then you will have to park one vehicle in the over flow parking by the pool.

Trailers/RV’s/ATV/Snow mobiles parking -VERY IMPORTANT – please follow exactly:

  • Is available ONLY in the parking lot near the entrance to the Windsong property. If there is not enough room there, then call me and I will have Mark our property manager help you find parking.
  • You can drive your snow mobiles and ATV right from those lots to the trails.
  • All vehicles are to be parked in the designated areas only. Parking on the road is not permitted. Any illegally parked vehicles are subject to towing & fines. Parking and towing fines are the sole responsibility of the vehicle’s owner.
  • NOTE: NO DRIVING snow mobiles/ATV/Rangers up to the town homes or parking them at town homes. There is a $150 fine per incident.

CHECK OUT LIST - Note for what to do on check out – Check-out is 11 a.m. :

  • Wash all dishes and put away – you can also just run a final load in dishwasher and the cleaning staff will put them away. Counters and table wiped down. Place mats wiped down.
  • Leave the beds un-made so cleaning knows the bed was used. You don’t need to take off the sheets as cleaning likes them left on the bed to spot treat.
  • Bath Towels you can throw dirty towels on the bathroom floor. Leave clean towels that were not used hanging on towel rod.
  • Remove trash/recycle from home. You can put it in the trash/recycle building located across from pool building.
  • Turn off lights – except the outside porch light we leave on.
  • Turn off heated floors.
  • Make sure front door is closed tight when you leave. It locks automatically.
  • Lock front patio doors.
  • Close any windows and lock them.
  • Remember to take your cell/computer cords. Check the dresser drawers also back of bathroom doors for any clothing.

Families With Children: - we changed to 6 yr old & up.

  • Children are to eat food and drinks by the table and not on the furniture or in beds.
  • Bring water proof bedding for children who wet the bed.
  • One thing to note is when children run up and down the stairs for play, it is noisy in the next home.
  • Adult supervision at all times at the pool and on deck.
  • No children allowed in Jacuzzi in the master suite.
  • Outside Danger to note – there are deep crevices on the rock cliffs in front of the town homes.
  • Foldable high-chair in closet. Text me if you can’t find it.
  • Our home is not child proofed use at own risk
  • Please set any of our breakables out of reach of young children and put them back before you leave.
  • We also ask that you don’t let children sleep or change diapers on top of the decorative Pendelton Blankets to protect them from stains. Thank you.

No Moving or Rearranging Of furniture in the home without consent of the owner:

Pool & Sauna building:

  • Pool building front door key code see your Reservation Info email letter for code.
  • The Pool Door is different code. Just remember on the pool door you need to press in the code and then press the Schlage button or door won't open.
  • Pool is managed by Windsong Association text me with concerns or problems.
  • They no longer provide towels at the pool.
  • Bring a beach towel or I have grey towels in the master bedrom for pool use. Please bring them back as they are our towels. Please do not take our white towels to the pool.
  • Pool hours: 8am to 10pm
  • Pool is open - Memorial Weekend through New Year's holiday.
  • Sauna: Open year round
  • Swim At Your Own Risk. No Lifeguard is ever on duty. Children must always be supervised by an adult.

What we stock:

  • Courtesy Day Back Pack to use for day hikes. Please hang back in the hall closet.
  • Kitchen
    • Full Size kitchen stove, oven, dishwasher and refrigerator with ice maker.
    • Basic Pots & Pans and Bakeware, strainer, grater, broiler pan, pizza pan
    • Dishes, glassware, flatware
    • Wustoff sharp knives.
    • I do not have a roast rack pan so bring one if you need one
    • Crock Pot, Waffle Iron, hand beater, blender
    • Keurig Duo Coffee Maker – it takes pods for one cup – also makes a pot of coffee. I provide coffee beans regular, bring your own pods, Filters, Coffee Grinder, Tea Pot, tea ball for lose teas
    • Coffee Grinder
    • trash bags, paper towels, napkins, hand soap, dish soap, dishwasher tabs
    • Zip Lock bags sandwich and gallon size, plastic wrap, tin foil

  • Step Stools - small folding left of side of fridge. Large stool in laundry closet.
  • Bathroom
    • We stock towels for 6 guests – One set includes a Bath towel, hand towel, wash cloth. Two sets per guest. We keep one set out on the towel racks and other sets under the bathroom sink cabinet. We have 3 bathrooms so each bathroom has two sets per bathroom.
    • We also have 3 extra colored wash cloths for face make-up.
    • toilet paper, hand soap, bar soap, conditioning shampoo.
  • Pool Towels
    • We suggest you bring beach towels for use at the Lake or Pool. We do not permit our towels or linens to be taken from the unit – except grey towels are for pool use. Please bring them back as they are ours.
  • Washer/Dryer
    • Apartment size washer and dryer
    • Bring your own soap.
    • Please do not run our blankets or sheets in the machine it is too small.
    • This really is a small load washer/dryer. We are not responsible for damage to cloths.

House Keeping:

  • No daily housekeeping.
  • 6 nights or more we do a mini mid-week towel change out. We take dirty & give more clean ones.

Webber Grill:

  • Located on our deck. Winter our decks are closed due to ice formed from waves use at your own risk.
  • Follow rules posted on the grill they are from our Windsong Association Bylaws and mine.
  • Clean the table top of it after your use, wash grills utensils, shut off gas, keep cover on it once cooled.
  • Text me if propane tank runs out. Maintenance refills it.

TV:

  • Cable TV connected to both Smart TV’s in the Living room and Master Suite.
  • If you use a game box, please reset the TV back so the next guests can use the TV/Cable mode without having to reset the TV.
  • If you sign in to use Netflix/You Tube/Amazon Prime with your personal code make sure you sign out, or it will stay activated on the TV.

Internet:

DVD/CD Player:

  • Bring your own DVD
  • The Sony player is pretty straight forward to use. Press the power on located on the left side. Then push the open button to insert the CD or DVD. Push the input button located on the bottom of the TV until the DVD screen comes up. It can play your music or movies. Then push play on the CD/DVD player. You can control the sound with the TV remote control.

Trash/Recycle:

  • Dispose of trash/recyle in the trash building located across from the pool building.
  • Our Windsong Association rules say we cannot leave trash bags on the front porch or deck. Also, no coolers on the deck or on the front porch.

Water and Sewer:

The cottage has public water and sewer systems. DO NOT FLUSH anything other than toilet paper. No feminine products should be flushed at any time.

Thermostat:

  • We have a touchscreen thermostat located in the downstairs hallway. You can adjust the temperature by simply pressing the warmer or cooler buttons. Do not shut off the furnace in the winter months. Pipes will freeze.

Heated Floors in Bathroom:

  • Each bathroom has in floor heat. Thermostats for them are located on the wall in each bathroom. To turn it on there is a panel door on the left side of the thermostat in the bathroom. Open the door and you will see the controls to turn it on. You can then adjust the temperature. Please turn these off during the day when you are not there. They are energy hogs. Thank you.

Windows:

  • Please close and lock windows when you leave for hiking. Weather changes so quickly on the shore we don’t want them open if it rains or high winds can come up quick and damage the windows.
  • Do not open windows on front of home if there are high winds.
  • Keep windows closed in cold weather

Fly Season:

  • Cluster flies are annoying. Keep screen doors closed. If you leave doors open, just in a few minutes you will have tons of flies in the home. I keep flyswatters hung up on left side of fridge on hook on wall or laundry closet.

Jacuzzi Master Bedroom Hours:

  • 9 am to 10 pm. No children allowed in Jacuzzi. No bath salts or oils. Or Bath bombs. Extra cleaning fee will be charged.

Fireplace:

Gas fireplace. Gets hot to touch.

Don’t run while the air conditioner is on.

Switch to turn it on is by the wall by book case that keep tea/hot chocolate on.

Fire Pit:

  • Located behind the pool building.
  • You may need to provide your own wood if none is there
  • It will be marked closed or locked in high fire risk times. Do not use it if it is closed. You will be liable for forest fires you start.
  • Black Beach Has Campfire Area: Just 5 minutes up Highway 61. Drive up Hwy 61, and you will come to a set of lights which is the turn off to Silver Bay. Don’t turn there, but continue to the first street past those lights. Take a right on that street and then go for a block to your next right. Then drive to next road where you will take a right. That is Black Beach road. Follow that road all the way to the dead end to a parking lot and 2 out houses. Park your car there and then it’s short hike out onto the beach. They have fire pit and picnic tables there. Note: In our front hall closet, I have two metal pails. They are marked rock hound for agate hunters, but we use those for taking water out of the lake to put out campfire on the beach. We also have 6 chairs in a bag located in the main floor bedroom closet.

WINDSONG ASSOCIATION

Information Disclosure for Guests of Windsong

The Windsong Townhomes make up a private, residential planned community. While some Windsong Owners have chosen to share the beauty, tranquility and amenities of their home with paying guests, Windsong is not an extension of nor is it owned by any Lodge, Hotel, Resort or other Commercial or Business Operation.

All guests at Windsong are subject to the Windsong Cottages Association Governing Documents (Declaration, Articles of Incorporation, By-Laws and also include various rules and regulations promulgated under these documents by the Association and its Board of Directors). For your convenience, some key rules are summarized below.

Parking and Vehicle Operation Rules and Enforcement

  1. Parking is permitted only directly in front of the unit owned/leased/being visited or in the guest parking areas (by pool building and the upper lot). Improperly parked vehicles may be towed at the vehicle owner's expense.
  1. Parking is prohibited on all non-asphalt surfaces except in areas designated for trailer parking. Vehicles, ATVs, snowmobiles and trailers parked in prohibited areas will be towed at the vehicle/trailer owner's expense.
  1. Trailer parking is permitted only in the areas designated for trailer parking. Allowance is made for unload/load at the start/end of a stay and for commercial delivery vehicles. Trailers parked in all other areas will be towed at the trailer owner's expense.
  1. Parking of any vehicle or trailer is prohibited at all times on the entrance roads and fire lanes. Vehicles, ATVs, snowmobiles and trailers parked in prohibited areas will be towed at the vehicle/trailer owner's expense and the vehicle owner subject to citation by law enforcement.
  1. Operation of Snowmobiles or ATVs is prohibited throughout the Windsong property except they may be driven to depart or return from/to the trailer parking area en route to the trail system. They may not be driven up to any unit or building. Violation will result in a monetary assessments per occurrence. Allowance is made for emergency vehicles.

6. Please exercise caution when driving at Windsong... 10MPH at all times. There are hills, limited visibility on turns and many children using the pool and paved areas.

Fire Pit – NOTE CLOSED TILL FURTHER NOTICE

Use only the wood located near the pit. All fires must be extinguished no later than 10 pm and no fire shall be left burning if an adult is not present. Extinguish by using the water hose to flood the pit. The pit may be closed (sign will be posted) during periods of high brush fire risk. Any fires during such closures will subject violators to legal action.

Grills

The use of charcoal burning grills on decks or other wooden surfaces is prohibited. Propane gas grills in use on decks must be 18"-24" from deck railings and from the walls of the building and attended by an adult at all times. Charcoal grills are available at the patio behind the pool building.

Noise Levels

No music player or other audible device may be used on the deck of any unit, in the pool building, or elsewhere in the common area. Music and conversation heard beyond the unit's deck must be avoided so that all may enjoy Windsong's serenity. Remember: one person's music is another's noise.

Refuse Disposal

Trash or other waste shall be disposed of in the dumpster in the shed (across from pool building). Trash shall not be placed outside the unit as it will attract wild animals.

Wild Animals

There are a variety of wild animals, large and small, on Windsong property, and while generally not a threat to humans unless disturbed, feeding is not permitted. Food should not be left in chests outside the unit as it likely will attract animals.

Pool Hours and Sauna Hours

The pool is available for use Memorial Weekend through New Year's holiday, and open from 8 am to 10 pm; no exceptions. An access card should have been provided to you by the owner or your rental agent. The building is open year round for use of the sauna. No Lifeguard is ever on duty. Children must always be supervised by an adult.
